There is no difference.

I know people are going to get on my case since people love to mention the Feminazi’s or extreme feminists who think oppressing men is the way to get equal rights. However, that is not what the word feminism stands for. It’s just about getting equal rights. And for people who think there is no need for feminism, just take a look around the world for a moment, and you’ll understand why it is still necessary.

Although many people are now scared of calling themselves feminists since people latch onto this word and think they are men hating or something absurd. But this comic by Nathan explains the whole premise pretty well. Why we need feminism is because women have to face a whole of oppression throughout history. And I am not discounting the problems men have faced, but you have to admit, it doesn’t look good when you look at what hand women were dealt all their lives.

So if you support ‘gender equality’ but not feminism, this is what you are supporting.

We know a lot of people in our lives who say this but do they really understand what it means?

I mean this isn’t an exaggeration, women have gone through this and are still going through this in many parts of the world.

Is it really what you want?

Because this is technically what gender equality would entail? After all, an eye for an eye right?

New movements cropping up that just hate equality for the heck of it.

So true feminism isn’t evil after all. And we desperately need it.

The comic has hit the nail on the head. Feminism is fighting for equal treatment and equal rights, not worsening the treatment towards men or going eye for an eye. It’s for raising the standard for women, not lowering the standard for men. I like the way these cartoons show the difference between true feminism which is about gender equality…..raising the standard for women not lowering the standard for men or getting back at them for the sins of their fathers. -Margie

I have no idea if he is being sarcastic or not.

This is an issue that can have a lot of varying opinions.

And this person perfectly encapsulates the problem.

Exactly! Feminism is about equality and that is it!

Not trying to defend anyone but…but when I was a kid air didn’t want to be a Feminist. Why? Because I thought that people who promoted or declared themselves as Feminists were Bossy. I felt this because I studied at an All-Girls School, and I was bullied and treated as an Outcast by Girls. I, for some reason have always gotten along better with the Male gender.

But then I realized that I could be a better version of people I met. I can be assertive without being arrogant, I never gossip and never Bitch about any man or women. This is just a note to every woman out there. We are our BIGGEST enemies. We need to be more accepting and less judgemental about other women and men. If a woman aborts or if she doesn’t – support her anyway, it’s her life.

If a Woman-gains or loses weight, divorces or marries, eat 2 whole pizzas or goes on a diet, is a chauffeur or a doctor, is white or black or red or blue…just accept her. We have a right to our own lives, and how to live them is our decision. Stella

I suppose that is what makes it rubbish.

I am not going to defend the actions of those people. As they say a few bad apples ruin the bunch.

Well, that just took a turn.

I don’t think we can all agree on anything these days.

Really? And where did he pull that statement out of?

Can we just forget about the words and agree that all genders need equal rights?
