No matter how much we try to hide it in the deep bowels of our society’s secret. People of color face racism every day especially in predominantly European countries. There is the reason why the movement #blacklifematters is so important. We need to look at our self in the mirror and realize that we also have a huge hand in this by staying quiet and letting everything happen.
Thankfully, many people are standing up these days and letting their voices be heard. The media has made this easier. But it has also made it easier for the opposing side to have an even larger platform to spew hate. That is why Twitter threads like these are so important to spread awareness about the real issue. How black people live in constant fear and have to think about their every action so they don’t come off as hostile.

Black guy from Nigeria living on the West Coast of Canada. Thankful my few experiences with cops have been great. Even when I met a di*k, their partner immediately took them aside and saying “you can’t do that, ever, to anyone”. The best way to change attitudes within the police departments is to have them change and correct each other. Thank you, RCMP. –NotaCPA
As a white male, I know it’s not nearly as bad as this. I can relate to some. I am a contractor, I used to have an older beat-up truck and got pulled over all the time for the most random stuff. Like 1 tag light being out while 1 was still working. In my county, I have seen cops make U-turns in the middle of the road to follow a truck with a latter on it. It’s so annoying.
I’ve had employees questioned about having cash on payday. I have a clean background and get treated like I’m doing something wrong. It’s magical how I got a new truck and have not been pulled over in 3 years. I hate stereotyping. Now every time a cop gets behind me I’m already nervous for no reason. –howisitarepostwhenimadeit
