Life has a way of hitting you when you least expect it, and sometimes the world seems determined to make every day feel heavier than the last. I never planned to be a mother, never imagined myself navigating sleepless nights, unrelenting exhaustion, and the overwhelming responsibility of raising a child I hadn’t chosen. But when my IUD failed, everything changed. I found myself trapped in a system and a state that offered no real choices, forced to confront a reality I wasn’t prepared for.
The pressure of judgment, the backlash of friends, family, and strangers, and the unrelenting weight of my own expectations created a storm I wasn’t equipped to weather alone. It wasn’t just physical exhaustion; it was emotional, mental, and spiritual. And when it all became too much, I found myself standing at the edge of a darkness I almost couldn’t escape.

What does Reddit have to say about all this? Let’s find out.

Survival doesn’t always look heroic. For me, it has been messy, painful, and gradual, a journey that required asking for help, embracing vulnerability, and learning that needing support does not make me weak. Sixteen days in inpatient care, therapy, medication adjustments, and leaning on family and friends have slowly helped me reclaim parts of myself I thought were lost.
I’ve learned that motherhood does not have to look perfect, that bonding can take time, and that self-preservation is not selfish. The internet may have condemned me, and strangers may have threatened my life, but I am still here, still learning, still fighting to be a mother on my own terms. And in that survival, I’ve discovered resilience, compassion, and a hope that maybe, just maybe, I can raise my child with love, even amid the chaos.
