I never thought marriage could turn into a battlefield over something like this, but here we are. When I married my husband, I believed we had built a life on trust and honesty — two things I’m now realizing may have been illusions. I didn’t even know about his daughter until after the wedding, and the first time I met her, she repaid my hospitality by stealing from me. Now my husband expects me to open my home to her permanently, as if that betrayal never happened. I feel like I’m the only one protecting my own boundaries while being painted as the “bad guy” in my own house.

At this point, I’m exhausted. I’m tired of the guilt trips, the pressure, and the idea that my comfort and safety should be sacrificed for the sake of a “family” that was never fully honest with me to begin with. I didn’t marry into a fairytale — I married into a mess I never signed up for. If standing my ground and refusing to live with someone who’s already stolen from me makes me the villain, then maybe I’d rather be the villain than be a doormat.
