Is it bad to defend yourself?
Apparently, it is to some people. When women don’t fight back, we are blamed, when we do fight back, we are blamed for taking it too far or hurting the other person. Things like getting groped without consent have become the new normal and if someone does it, people just wave it away like it was a joke or no big deal at all. However, things like this should be taken much more seriously.
So when this girl fought back against her attacker, several praised her while there were also others who said, she shouldn’t have hurt him and just waited for the police. I mean he did start it by grabbing her but what do I know? However, not everyone is able to do this so it is a nice change of pace to see a person getting their comeuppance. As you can see below he was left with tears in his eyes sitting on the pavement.
He clearly doesn’t understand his actions have consequences.
And he sure does look remorseful here but I am sure he is sad that he got caught, nothing else.
It is called “self-defense”.She has the right to defend her PRIVATE parts. She has also avoided the typical “misunderstanding” according to which speaking the word “no” is not enough to stop unwanted behavior. No one would argue about her reaction had he tried to steal her wallet. She has the right to protect her body and preserve her well-being, she could do it by herself and I hope the moron sitting on the sidewalk has learned a lesson. -Valentina
She is not the one who took the picture but it feels good to see this.
And many people praised her for doing this.
They were proud of her for standing up for herself and making such a statement with her actions.
I think most parents would like for their daughters to be this way.
While others tried defending the guy’s actions.
Maybe it seems imbalanced but enough is enough. Even if she used a chokehold, she is doing it for all the other poor girls that have been groped by him. All the men thinking it is an extreme reaction – Well I wonder how they would react with another man groping his junk. I can tell you it’s a pretty horrific feeling. -Wezbie
Some even said that it wasn’t as big a deal as she was making it out to be.
He shouldn’t have done it if he didn’t want to get arrested.
It is sad to see so many people thinking what he did was not as bad.
There was a news article about the Tour de France, where several hostesses came out talking about being groped and treated horribly by the people there. Several of the reactions to the article were “If you can’t handle being touched, get another job.” or “They probably asked for it by the way they dress.” There’s a very big difference between an accidental touch, or actually grabbing someone’s boobs or butt. Seriously, there seems to be this sickening trend of blaming the victims here.
Serves this guy right though. Men like him should learn that you don’t grope women (or men!). Even if someone is naked, that doesn’t give anyone the right to touch them. -Shana
