The pay gap is not made up.

I know there is a rumor going around that the reason women get paid less overall in the statistics is that they don’t take high-paying or physically demanding jobs. And while that may contribute to it, it doesn’t sum up the whole story. But people have their own varying opinions on it. One opinion from a conservative perspective is from an organization known as PragerU.

If you haven’t heard of it, you should count yourself lucky. Because Dennis Prager just got destroyed with facts when an Economics major decided to school him on hat gender pay gap really. When in fact Dennis was touting that it doesn’t even exist and the world is just making it up. But James Ray explained it perfectly and in under a minute which is a feat in on of itself.

If he doesn’t understand, he shouldn’t make videos about the matter.

If he had done anything more than a quick google search.

But he chooses to spread misinformation without any hard facts.

He continues with a made-up hypothesis that is supposed to prove his point.

It is as if he has just won the Internet or something.

One often-cited statistic comes from the Census Bureau, which looks at the annual pay of full-time workers. By that measure, women are paid 80 cents for every dollar men are paid.

Another measure looks at hourly pay and does not exclude part-time workers. It finds that, relative to men, typical women are paid 83 cents on the dollar. Other less-cited measures show different gaps because they examine the gap at different parts of the wage distribution, or for different demographic subgroups, or are adjusted for factors such as education level and occupation. –Economic Policy Institute

So James Ray was quick to make a response video.

So he could explain the gender pay gap.

As he actually knew what he was talking about.

He tried his best to do it in a way that didn’t take a long time.

And that it was easy to understand.

So that even a 5-year-old could grasp the concept.

Everyone has some sort of pre-conceived bias.

Nobody is free from this sort of thinking.

That is why it paramount we ask the important questions.

People also cite pregnancy leave as a reason for this.

Even though it is paid and there is an equivalent leave for men as well.

If Dennis had only done some research, he could have realized this himself.

I had heard of Dennis Prager well before the TikTok because of Prager U. And I do not like him. He spews very hateful unfounded rhetoric to his audience and I think the disinformation and overall problematic nature of his content have made me dislike him considerably! My TikTok received an overall very good response, but like anything political, there’s always a cohort of people trying their best to disagree publicly. I’d say overall though I have seen a lot of good feedback!

As far as his attention from other TikTokers, I think it’s been mostly negative. TikTok is… not fun for conservatives but particularly not for those like Dennis and I think the overall political TikTok community response has been a mixture of either attacking and mocking him and his positions or outright ignoring him so as to not give him attention. -James Ray

He was also ready for any other questions people had.

Most of us hear that women don’t ask for raises as much either.

And he goes on to explain why that is.

It has always been drilled into women’s minds to not ask for much.

And that they would come off as pushy if they did which is not true for men.

And many workplaces are inherently toxic and misogynistic.

However, things have started changing in recent years.

Even if we still have a long way to go.

Not only do we not ask for raises as much.

But when we do, we are less likely to get them than our male counterparts.

We will get confirmation after the pandemic is over.

People in the comments had other things to clarify as well.

Dennis should really not have even attempted this.

This is a nice thought but people like him choose to stay blind.
